About

Lisa is a designer from Germany based in Oslo, Norway. 

She holds a Master degree in fashion and costume design from Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2007) and has in addition studied in both Trier, Germany (University of Applied Sciences, BA in Fashion design) and at the prestigious Aalto University of Arts and Design in Helsinki, Finland.

When living in Finland in 2004, Lisa was working for the well – known Finnish fashion brand IvanaHelsinki. 

In 2005, she received the Cumulus Design Award in Copenhagen.

In the same year, Lisa started to concentrate on the design and production of leather accessories and clothes.

After her graduation she created custom made, hand painted and -printed bags and purses out of recycled leather and silk. 

In 2007/2008 Lisa shared a studio together with her friend Morten Juel Brauer, one of Norway`s few professional saddlers who has had a true influence on Lisa`s knowledge about leather and her working approach with this material.

The brand LAKS BY LISA was established in late 2010 and the first collection was launched in spring 2011. 

LAKS BY LISA is offering high quality fish leather accessories manufactured in Europe with craftsmanship and consciousness. LAKS is the Norwegian word for salmon.

The main materials are salmon and tilapia leather, a by - product of the food industry and mainly of organic origin. Lisa receives skins from both Icelandic and Brazilian tanning factories. 

In addition, a variety of other high quality leathers (both vintage and production leftovers) as well as other innovative materials are used to accomplish the models.

The product range includes bags, a variation of accessories, home decor and wall art. The classic bags and purses are manufactured at a small company in Krakow, Poland. The bespoke models and smaller accessories are hand made by Lisa at her studio in Oslo.

The collection is characterized by a combination of clear yet playful patterns inspired by both Scandinavian simplicity and a hint of retro nostalgia.

LAKS BY LISA – accessories are sold and have been exhibited in countries such as Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Japan and the brand has been exposed at international fairs such as Tokyo Design Week.

LAKS BY LISA has been featured in magazines like The Japan Times, Lederwarenreport, Step Fashion as well as Scandinavian fashion magazines like Costume, Stella, HENNE and KK.

Besides being a designer and creator for her own brand, Lisa has been working as an assistant store manager, buyer and designer for an exclusive leather glove retail store in Oslo from 2008 - 2016.
